BigCommerce → Shopify

Move from BigCommerce to Shopify with catalogue, customers, orders and rankings intact.

Merchants leave BigCommerce for Shopify’s app ecosystem, checkout and ease of hiring. We migrate the catalogue — including BigCommerce’s option and modifier structures — customers, orders, content and URLs, rebuild integrations, and cut over without downtime.

Why merchants move

If this sounds familiar.

  • The apps and integrations you want are Shopify-first.
  • Option and modifier rules make the catalogue hard to manage.
  • Checkout conversion lags behind what you expect.
  • Finding developers and support for BigCommerce is getting harder.

What moves

Every entity, how it moves, and the risk.

The honest version — including the things that cannot move on any platform, and what we do about them.

How it works

Six steps to a clean cutover.

Typical timeline: 3–8 weeks. Your current store keeps selling until the switch.

  1. 01

    Audit and plan

Catalogue options, apps, integrations and URLs reviewed; plan and fixed quote delivered.

  2. 02

    Build the Shopify store

Theme, navigation, payments, shipping, taxes and apps configured on a hidden store.

  3. 03

    Migrate in test runs

Products, customers, orders and content migrated repeatedly until counts and samples match.

  4. 04

    Redirects and SEO

Full URL map deployed and tested; metadata and schema carried over.

  5. 05

    Cutover

Delta migration, DNS switch, redirects verified live — no downtime.

  6. 06

    Monitor and fix

Two weeks of daily checks; 30 days of fixes; BigCommerce plan cancelled.

Options and modifiers, mapped deliberately

BigCommerce separates options (which create SKUs) from modifiers (which customise a line). Shopify’s model is different, so the audit classifies every modifier — variant, line-item property or app customisation — and confirms the mapping with you before migration.

Continuity for customers and reporting

Customer records, addresses and complete order history move as archived orders, so returning customers see their purchases and your reporting has no gap.

Redirects, then monitoring

The URL inventory includes BigCommerce’s existing redirects, not just live pages. Everything is 301-redirected, tested before cutover, and monitored in Search Console for two weeks after.

FAQ

Migration questions.

Still unsure? Ask us directly — one human reply, no sales sequence.

How do BigCommerce modifiers migrate?

Modifiers that change price or SKU become Shopify variants; text and file inputs become line-item properties or app-driven customisation. We review any with pricing rules individually so nothing silently changes price.

Do customer groups survive?

Yes — as customer tags for segmentation and, where they drive pricing, as Shopify B2B price lists or a wholesale app.

Will our rankings hold?

Every BigCommerce URL and existing redirect is inventoried and 301-redirected, metadata and schema are carried over, and Search Console is monitored daily after cutover.

Is there downtime?

No. BigCommerce keeps selling until the DNS switch, and a final delta migration brings the last orders and customers across.
