Wix → Shopify
Wix is quick to start on and hard to scale — checkout, apps, inventory and multi-currency tools run out as the store grows. We move the catalogue, customer list, order history and content to Shopify, rebuild the design on a fast theme, and redirect every old URL so the traffic you built on Wix keeps arriving.

Why merchants move
What moves
The honest version — including the things that cannot move on any platform, and what we do about them.
| What | How it moves | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Products, options and variants | Exported from Wix Stores, options mapped to Shopify's three-option model with metafields for the rest, images re-hosted at full resolution.Products with more than three option types are restructured with you before anything moves. | medium |
| Collections and categories | Wix categories rebuilt as Shopify collections with matching handles where possible. | low |
| Customers and contacts | Contacts exported and imported with addresses, tags and marketing consent; passwords cannot move, so customers activate their accounts by email. | medium |
| Orders | Order history imported as archived orders with line items, totals, dates and status. | medium |
| Coupons and gift cards | Coupons recreated as Shopify discounts; outstanding gift card balances migrated. | low |
| Reviews | Exported from Wix Reviews or your review app and imported into a Shopify review app with schema. | low |
| Blog posts and pages | Posts pulled through the Wix Blog API or feed and recreated with images and metadata; pages rebuilt in the theme. | low |
| URLs and redirects | Every product-page, post and category URL inventoried and 301-redirected on Shopify; tested before and after the DNS switch. | high |
| Subscriptions and memberships | Plans recreated in a Shopify subscription app with a re-consent flow; saved payment methods cannot move between platforms. | high |
| Velo code and integrations | Custom functions mapped to Shopify apps, theme features or rebuilt integrations (email, shipping, accounting). | medium |
How it works
Typical timeline: 2–6 weeks. Your current store keeps selling until the switch.
Catalogue, options, apps, Velo code, URLs and traffic reviewed; plan and fixed quote delivered.
Theme, navigation, payments, shipping, taxes and apps configured while Wix keeps selling.
Products, customers, orders and content migrated repeatedly until counts and samples match.
Full URL map prepared in Shopify; metadata, schema and sitemap ready before launch.
Delta migration of the latest orders and customers, domain moved to Shopify, redirects verified live.
Two weeks of daily checks; 30 days of fixes; Wix plan cancelled once rankings settle.

Wix allows more option types per product than Shopify’s three. The audit lists every product that needs restructuring — extra choices become metafields, separate products or a variant bundle — and you approve the mapping before anything moves.
Once the domain points at Shopify, Wix’s own redirect tool no longer answers. We build the full redirect map in Shopify’s URL redirects before cutover and test every product, post and category URL against it, so the switch happens without a single 404.
Custom Velo functions — price rules, forms, member areas — are mapped one by one to Shopify’s built-in features, supported apps or a rebuilt integration. Nothing is left as “we’ll see after launch”.
FAQ
Still unsure? Ask us directly — one human reply, no sales sequence.
Products, contacts and orders export to CSV from the Wix dashboard, and blog posts come through the Wix API or feed. Anything Wix does not export cleanly is pulled through its APIs or rebuilt from your live site — the audit lists exactly which items fall in that bucket.
The domain is pointed at Shopify at cutover and stays registered where it is. Email set up through Wix keeps working because only the website's DNS records change.
The URL structure changes, so every old URL is 301-redirected on Shopify and tested before launch. Titles, descriptions, image alt text and schema are carried across, and we watch Search Console for the first weeks.
Wix layouts do not transfer, so the design is rebuilt on a fast Shopify theme with your branding — usually an upgrade in speed and mobile usability. Sections are matched screen by screen so nothing you rely on is lost.
