Built for a Canadian merchant shipping with Canada Post, where every return-to-sender was a re-ship, a refund or a support thread. It exists because Shopify Flow cannot email a customer, and nothing we could find checked the building rather than just the street.

Merchant problem
A returned parcel costs the postage twice, the product's shelf time and a support thread — and most returns trace back to one missing unit number or a postal code that never matched the street.
What Address Guard does
Check the address the moment the order lands, hold only what Canada Post says will not deliver, and let the customer fix it themselves in one click. The order stays the single source of truth — verdict, evidence and every message live on it as metafields and tags.
Features
What the shipped app does today.
Nothing here is a roadmap item — every feature below runs today for the store the app was built for.
Canada Post validation on every order
Each new order's shipping address is checked against Canada Post's own data — building type, unit count, postal code and street — before fulfilment starts.
Holds only what will not deliver
Flagged orders get a fulfilment hold with the reason attached; clean orders are tagged and pass through untouched.
One-click customer confirmation
The customer receives a transactional email with a signed link to confirm or correct the address — no account, no support ticket.
Corrections written back
A confirmed or corrected address is written to the order, the hold is released and the order is tagged for your fulfilment tools.
Never cries wolf
A customer is only told a unit number is missing when Canada Post has confirmed the building has units. When the lookup cannot tell, the app stays quiet and lets the parcel go.
Chases uncollected parcels
Once a tracking number appears the app polls Canada Post, reminds the customer while the parcel waits for pickup, and alerts staff when one is returned.
The order is the database
Verdict, evidence and message history live on the order as metafields and tags. The app keeps no second copy of any customer address.
Built around lookup cost
Free checks run first, one lookup answers most orders, and results are cached per building — so a tower of apartments costs one lookup, not hundreds.
Works with Flow and ShipStation
Exactly one address status tag sits on an order at any time, so your existing automations can branch on it without reading two tags.
How it works
From order to delivered, without the return.
- 01
The order comes in
The address is checked against Canada Post within seconds; free checks catch malformed postal codes before any paid lookup.
- 02
Flagged orders are held
Fulfilment pauses with the reason attached, and the verdict and evidence are saved on the order.
- 03
The customer confirms
A signed link in a transactional email lets them confirm or correct the address in one click; the fix is written back and the hold released.
- 04
Parcels are watched
Tracking is polled, pickup reminders go out ahead of the return deadline, and returns raise a staff alert.

FAQ
Address Guard — questions.
Still unsure? Ask us directly — one human reply, no sales sequence.
Does it store my customers' addresses?
No. Everything the app knows about an order — verdict, evidence, messages — is written to that order in Shopify as metafields and tags. Its own database holds only the app session, settings, a cache of Canada Post building data, the parcel polling schedule and an audit log.
What happens when Canada Post cannot decide?
Nothing. The app only flags an address when Canada Post has positively confirmed the problem — for example that a building has units and none was given. Unclear lookups let the parcel ship.
When can I install it?
It is in single-store use today and being prepared for public listing. Ask to be notified and we will email you when the listing is live — or talk to us about running it for your store sooner.
Does it work outside Canada?
Not yet. Validation and parcel tracking are built on Canada Post.
